Tom Marshall announced as Senior Editor, RECOIL Network

We’re proud to announce that Blacksheep Warrior writer Tom Marshall recently accepted the position of Senior Editor for the RECOIL Network. His first career editorship, Tom’s new position is a “full-spectrum” post that encompasses all of RECOIL’s print titles (RECOIL, Concealment, Carnivore and OffGrid) as well as RecoilWeb, RecoilTV and the upcoming Recoil Events and Recoil Reserves programs. (Stay tuned to BSW for more info on those last two!)

Tom’s resume includes extensive experience in both real-world operations and industry engagement. He is a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics & Intermodal Transportation, a USCG Third Mate’s License (Unlimited Tonnage, Any Ocean) and an active duty commission as 2nd Lieutenant, US Army. Post-commissioning, Tom served for four years in a Stryker Brigade with the 2nd Infantry Division. As a Cavalry Officer, he was assigned to the Brigade RSTA Squadron (Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition). During his time in RSTA, he worked as an Assistant Operations Officer, Scout Platoon Leader, and Headquarters Company Executive Officer.  During his tenure he completed a one-year deployment to Operation: Iraqi Freedom.

Following his separation from active duty, Tom spent approximately 18 months as the security manager for a federally-contracted Community Corrections facility in Southern Arizona handling several types of high-risk offenders. He left this position to return overseas as an Independent Contractor, providing force protection for US Government personnel serving in high-threat environments around the world. He’s visited or worked in 23 different countries spanning 4 continents.

Tom has been a freelance writer in the firearms/tactical industry for nearly six years. He’s written numerous articles for a variety of blogs and print publications including Guns & Ammo, SWAT Magazine, World of Firepower, Breach-Bang-Clear and RECOIL.
