Outdoor Research Overlord Gloves Review
By: Boy Scout
A few months ago I was issued one of the best pair of gloves I’ve ever used, the Outdoor Research Overlord. In tactical environments, having a good pair of multifunction gloves that you can shoot with, that are durable, and that keep you warm in the winter and not too hot in the summer is imperative.
Below are a few of the features of the glove:
-Created with nomex stretch material giving fire protection
-Double needle kevlar stitching
-Pull loop for getting the glove on easily
-Strategically placed leather padding where you need it while maintaining breathability
The Outdoor Research Overlord Short Glove features leather protection over the knuckles for those times when have to go hands on or just let out some frustration on a wall.
They also feature leather protection right where you need it when gripping your weapon without overdoing it so your hands cant breath in the heat. Additionally, the leather is double stitched with kevlar thread.
I even started using the gloves for my recreational activities like mountain biking and softball. They are the coolest batting gloves I think I’ve ever owned.
So far, I haven’t had any issue with the fingers blowing out or the materials tearing in any way. In fact, I recently was in a shooting course where I had to use a standard military speed loader (the type that comes in the ammo crates) for a few thousand rounds. The leather protection stood up like a champ despite the ammo strips efforts to repeatedly intrude.
So what is the catch you may ask. Its simple, they cost a ton. US Cavalry sells them for $159. If you are on a budget and aren’t getting these things issued to you, you might be better off spending $20 on a pair of Mechanix Gloves. But, if you have been having trouble finding a place to spend all that extra cash, you won’t be disappointed.
Be safe out there!
